I really want to show this off! Come see!

When I went to the Ottawa Comicon in May, I met a wonderful artist by the name of Mike Rooth. We got to talking and I commissioned him to draw a picture of one of my characters.

For those of you who've read "The Lord of Winter", here's Del in his armour. Del's one of the characters in the story and I won't say anything about him for those who haven't read the story yet. However, I love Mike's version of him. He is utterly gorgeous. My plan is, when I put something else on Smashwords, Mike will be doing the cover.

  1. Awesome! I knew you'd find someone to aid you on this. I checked out his gallery. I haven't been able to get a hold of my Romanian friend/artist lately. If I ever finish my novel, perhaps I'd give Mike some business as well. I love what he did with your character.

  2. He's been wonderful. I told him only the bare basics of the character and gave him free reign. I love what he's come up with.

  3. Oh wow...love this art!

Still love the original art of The Lord you did too - will always be sentimental about that because it was so interesting watching your process in creating it. :) But I have to say it is pretty awesome to see this artist's vision of Del as well.

    1. It is. I do love seeing other people's interpretations. That's now what Del looks like in my head and that's definitely his armour.

  4. Thanks for the kind words everyone. It was a real pleasure to draw this character for Lori. I get the most pleasure out of my work when I am interpreting and bringing form to another creator's works (and my original characters too, of course ). It was great fun, thanks again Lori :)

    1. No, thank you. I'll definitely have to get you to bring some of my other characters to life, once I have some money gathered up.
